Location: Biotech Development Center, Corsier-sur-Vevey, Switzerland
As part of the Global Drug Substance Development department, you will join a team ofmotivated scientists creating and implementing solutions to support the development and manufacturing of next-generation biological therapeutics.You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic research environment. You will be encouraged to work independently and present your findings during team meetings.The internship focuses on developing and validating automated workflows on a robotic platform to support purification and sample handling activities for biological molecules. Work include translating manual procedures into automated sequences, implementing control scripts, integrating basic sampling and data capture, and evaluating automatedYou will document development, evaluate performance metrics (yield, purity, yield variability, cycle time) and propose improvements for scale-up and routine use.
Your role:
- Map and formalize manual purification procedures for automation
- Design and implement automated workflows on a robotic platform (scripting, sequencing, error handling)
- Integrate chromatography and filtration steps (e.g., resin-based operations, membrane handling, TFF interfaces) within automated sequences
- Develop and validate data acquisition and process monitoring (sample tracking, automated sampling for analytics)
- Apply DoE and optimization strategies to improve process robustness and throughput
- Ensure documentation of code, SOPs and risk assessments
- Troubleshoot, debug and demonstrate reproducible runs; present technical reports and recommendations for deployment
Your profil:
- Master's or engineering student in Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related fields
- Strong curiosity
- Eagerness to learn
- Ability to adapt quickly and work independently
- Highly motivated with a collaborative team spirit
